Here, Opal Beau presents five short stories (memoirs), based on vague recollections of humiliation endured at the hand of boys and men.
Peripheral characters in these stories include cops, immigration officers, ticket inspectors and some other kids from the neighbourhood. By examining his experience with these characters, he seeks to examine how his own relationship to masculinity was formed.

While none of these darkly comic stories could be considered significant in of themselves, they together act as a polemic against the unquestioned masculinity as enacted by their supporting cast.

The memoirs are based on recordings made while walking through the park at night. The initial recordings are presented as recorded, without noticeable editing. They are accompanied by digital synthesis and granular processing, both โplayedโ rather than sequenced.

Here, these soliloquies serve as a reluctant demonstration of his socialised masculinity, while the processed audio represents a reflection upon his subconscious processes and the construction of the self.
